The Castillo is a go for Nov 14.

here's the bad news:

must be from 8pm to midnight :reason Castillo grounds outside close at midnight and they don't want anyone(tourist, drunks, vagrants) to look over and see something going on and decided to come over, and be on the grounds, snooping, etc..... This is okay by me, b/c it gets dark early but we will have to realize the noise factor from the street will be there.

the superintendent says that if we have between 10-20 people we will need 3 rangers to escort us around.

Its looking like we will have closer to 10-12 folks and when we are not actually investigating, we will be outside the Castillo, sitting by our car or a park bench or something..

So, I think we will be extra professional and do a very credible job, and use the information they will give us. I would also like to see everyone in a team tee shirt so we look as professional as I know we are.

He did ask again would we be filming ? I said yeas with our personal hand held video recorders and the DVR system. (of course, all this is spelled out in the application.)

So, the application is APPROVED, with the above restrictions.

There will be a pre investigation meeting, Location and Time will be posted at a later date.

So now I need a show of hands on how many will be attending.
The price of the application fee was$169.00, and then we will have to pay two rangers salaries for the time we spend there. They get $45.00 per Hour each so that's $90.00 Per Hour we spend there. So that is $360.00 split per member attending, the More we have the less it will be per person.
If we have 20 members attend it breaks down to $26.45 each. and that is less that what you would spend going to the Light house for their Dark of the Moon tour.

Dear CAPE members,

Here is the very latest:

The total fees will be $510 dollars, which includes 2 monitors, and  a film location fee. I have donated the $169 application fee to the CAPE cause.

So, we need a firm head count by the end of September please and have your portion paid to Vishi by the end of October please. She will pay the park once the money has been collected.

More from the peanut gallery:

Also, to reiterate what Al said in his posting, if you don't have a tshirt yet, please get one (Al has the remainder of them now, limited sizes and amounts ) and we can order batches of 10 if we need more...or you will have to wear a dorky name tag !

If I have to order more I will need at least two weeks heads up so the lady can make them.

If you all have any questions feel free to contact me and Al.

I want you all to know that a lot of paperwork and effort has gone into getting the Castillo for CAPE. Its not cheap but it does not cost like some of the other ghosthunts I've done.

Al has been working with me side by side on this and I hope every member of CAPE will be able to attend. This is really a great opportunity for CAPE to make a good impression and  I hope you will all enjoy the event.

Also I still need your Auto make, Model and Tag number

Thanks,

Vishi

Just a quick question ,are we going to be able to, or have we already, taken preliminary measurements so that we have an idea of what equipment needs to go where, etc. etc.
Also how are the acoustics? I know there is an overabundance of reverberation in certain areas such as the magazine and the so called bone room.
Thanks V.

I'm in!

D, I believe Vishi and Al walked the grounds to figure out what equipment we'll need (most likely everything we have).

Yes, measurements and photos of each room were taken. When the Castillo rooms are empty they do tend to echo a bit, especially the larger ones or closed up ones. However, the walls are so thick its kind of hard to hear whats going on  outside.
There are some chimneys that appear functional plus a active fan vent that goes to the garbage room (whats called the bone room). According to the ranger we spoke to, no human bones were found here, this was just a trash room that was used during one of the sieges and was later sealed up, and was opened up again a later. An amount of refuse including animal bones was found(trash). It is the smallest room and the most enclosed. The entrance is small and low, you've got to crawl to get in. There is a light fixture in there, the air is smelly, hot and still.

I'm familiar with that room. They put a bumper on the top of the entryway so you won't crack your skull, hehe. Any time I've ever been in there, the air is always really stale and musty.

I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!! Clubat

the days inn is within crawling distance of the Castillo, just down A1A , and close to the old jail. Plenty of bars across the street from the Castillo. There is a Dennys onsite of the days inn, for the muchies later.
